Who am I? What do I do?
I work as a sound healer, visual artist, and YouChoose facilitator, with a long professional background in music, art, and mindfulness. Music for me Growing up, music was all around me. Many family members were either professionally or semi-professionally involved in music, so it was always a central part of my life. My passion, already as a child, was playing drums and percussion. I learned both the expressive and the more meditative uses of rhythms and melodies. Over the years, I was fortunate enough to play in so many different musical settings, from bands to orchestras. This gave me the skills I have now: I listen with the heart, I react harmoniously, and I function in a creative space where the whole is much bigger than the separate parts. Visual arts and education It was a happy moment at school when a teacher gave me clay and put on an LP record. He asked me to give form and shape to these sounds... That was the moment I let go of my thoughts, purely trusted my intuition, and simply let my hands follow. This experience altered my life and became the backbone of my artistic development. I went on to study sculpture at the University of the Arts in the Netherlands and graduated in 1992. I mainly worked with clay and music, exploring how sound can be translated into form. I was interested in the relationship between sound and form, resonance and shape, vibration and matter. Since graduating, I have worked as a professional visual artist and art teacher, teaching adults and children in the Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, France, and Finland, and exhibiting my work in various contexts. Meditation and training My deepest long-term interest has been in meditation and inner awareness. I began exploring it in my youth and have had the opportunity to receive direct instructions from many great mindfulness teachers. Later, I completed a formal training as a mindfulness meditation teacher under Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. This brought together my 40 years of experience with the modern standards of teaching. I am also the co-creator of the YouChoose process, a mindfulness- and psychodrama-based model developed together with Piiu Alén in 2016–2017. YouChoose focuses on letting go of limiting beliefs. How I work Today, I integrate music, art, and meditation into my work as a sound healer and YouChoose facilitator. My strength lies in being present and listening deeply — both in sound healing and in facilitating YouChoose processes. I work with individuals and groups. My working languages are English and Dutch. I live and work in Finland. |
